KAISHAKUNIN, a samurai ghost story, is the latest short film from Jerry Janda, author, producer, and co-star of PAINKILLER.
Jerry wrote the script for KAISHAKUNIN, and this film will be his directorial debut. He is producing the short with the award-winning filmmakers from Small Basket Studios.
KAISHAKUNIN has been enjoying a very successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo — surpassing goals and even trending as one of the top films on the site. (There is still time to donate, so if you’d like to support KAISHAKUNIN — and earn some of the campaign’s great perks — pay a visit to the film’s Indiegogo page.)
Principal photography for KAISHAKUNIN begins on June 11.

Principal photography for PAINKILLER began exactly two years ago. Since then, most of the cast and crew have kept busy with several projects.
If you liked PAINKILLER, you may be interested in the films they have coming.
Most recently, postproduction began on RAPT, a short featuring Jerry Janda (PAINKILLER’s writer/producer/co-star). Jerry co-stars in RAPT, and he co-wrote the short with Russell Hackett, who appears in DITCH (a micro-short that Jerry wrote and co-directed with Jeff Gould, PAINKILLER’s executive producer, editor, and cinematographer).
Talented cinematographer Mark Boutros shot RAPT, and the award-winning Tom Ryan directed it.
We’ll post updates about RAPT — and about other projects from the PAINKILLER cast and crew. And, of course, we’ll continue to share news about PAINKILLER.
As always, thank you for supporting PAINKILLER — and supporting the work of our cast and crew.
Gruesome Magazine gives PAINKILLER four out of five stars, calling the short, “a gripping, highly entertaining sci-fi/horror hybrid.”

We’re proud to announce that PAINKILLER is an official selection of the prestigious NYC Horror Film Festival!
The festival will take place from November 12 and 15, and we’re screening as part of Program 5 at 7:15 p.m. on Friday the 13th — right before Sean Cunningham receives a lifetime achievement award.
This is a huge honor for us!

Many members of the cast and crew will be in attendance. We hope to see you there!
Members of the PAINKILLER crew reunited this weekend to shoot a scene for BLACK WAKE, a feature film written by Jerry Janda (who also wrote, produced, and co-starred in PAINKILLER).
BLACK WAKE is directed by Jeremiah Kipp (PAINKILLER’s director) and co-stars Kelly Rae LeGault (the star of PAINKILLER). Jerry makes a cameo as a police officer, and, by all accounts, probably needed a painkiller after filming wrapped.
We’re really looking forward to seeing how this collaboration turns out when BLACK WAKE is released next year!
